FAQs

  • I know the first session can be quite scary. The first session is really designed for me to get to know you and you to get to know me! I will ask lots and lots of questions (some of them may or may not apply to you) so I can get a full understanding of the biological, social, and psychological factors that are intertwining with the issue that you are dealing with. Some of my questions will reference to your past and may bring up uncomfortable emotions. I always recommend scheduling the first session for a time and day when you can take care of yourself afterwards, as it is not uncommon for the first session to having you think about different areas that you may not have thought of before.

  • Each person is so different! Each person comes in with their own unique needs, goals, and drive, and that influences the length of therapy. Some individuals may need more short term therapy, while others benefit from long term. No matter what, I work collaboratively with each client when deciding the length of overall treatment.

  • I always recommend to my clients is making sure that they are in a comfortable and private area. Sometimes our sessions may address sensitive topics, and it is best if the session is in an area that is not around others, and you are able to authentically be you! Some clients may prepare for sessions by jotting down hot thoughts –thoughts that sparked a strong or uncomfortable emotion–to bring into session to process.
